Irish Poet Seamus Heaney has suffered a stroke

" The body gaped at the stroke dealt to it after death:" Beowulf
The well loved Irish poet, and Nobel prize winner, Seamus Heaney has suffered a stroke, but fortunately is in recovery. This was recently confirmed by his inability to travel to South Africa for a ceremony to confer Amnesty International's highest award on Nobel peace prize winner Nelson Mandela. We do of course wish him a speedy recovery.

"The woods are lovely, dark and deep,
But[you have promises to keep]"--
and keep the light ablaze.
May God bestow a long life on you and you have a speedy recovery!

A well wisher.

Deeply grieved to hear that Seamus Heaney has had a stroke. Tides of good wishes for recovery are going out from a former teaching colleague, now in Napa, California.
